Services for Ofelia Reyna Soto will be held at St. Marys Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 11 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
Ms. Soto, age 77, entered into everlasting joy with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Weston Inn in Temple after an extended illness.
Ofelia was born January 31, 1936 in Lubbock, TX to Ruperto Moreno Soto and Bicenta Reyna Soto. Later that year, the family moved to Temple to follow Dads work with the Santa Fe Railroad. With ten children in the family, they saw many changes and improvements in this thriving railroad town.
Ofelia worked loyally at ArtcoBell for 28 years until retirement. Ofelia answered many great calls in her life, including staying at home to care for her mother until she passed in 1963. She also lovingly and courageously stepped into the role of Mama to her nephew Jackie Soto after her older sister, Jesusa Susie Quinteros died in 1958. She officially became Mama and Grandama after legally adopting Jackie when he was 42. Preceding her in death are her parents, brothers Bennie and Robert Soto sisters Alice Soto and Susie Quinteros. Survivors include brothers Raymond R. Soto, Sr. and Joe R. Soto of Temple Clem R. Soto of Phoenix, AZ sisters Mary B. Roach of Temple and Rosie Flores of Killeen her son Jackie Soto and his wife Dora her grandchildren Sumetra and Andre Soto and many nieces and nephews who relished visits with their Aunt Ofie.
Visitation will be from 68p on Monday, June 10, 2013 with Rosary at 7p. HarperTalasek is in charge of services.
