Naomi Fondren

January 8, 1936 — April 18, 2016

Mrs. Naomi Fondren, 80, of Troy passed from this life on Monday, April 18, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family. Naomi was born on January 8, 1936 in Siluria, AL to Willie F. and Mary Grace Gardner.
Naomi worked for Walmart Garden Center for 25 years and had true passion for things that grow. No matter if it was plants, trees, flowers or vegetables she loved to care for them. She enjoyed sitting on her porch watching the humming birds come and go from the feeders. She also had a love for armadillos and penguins. Naomi was a great cook and especially loved to cook southern food. She made the best fried chicken, cream corn, butter beans, and corn bread which had to be baked in an iron skillet. She was famous for her chocolate pies. Some of her favorite snacks were cornbread and buttermilk or banana and mayonnaise sandwiches. Sometimes for a night cap she enjoyed a little Vodka and 7.
Naomi enjoyed taking road trips to the Winstar Casino with her friends Pat, Donna, and Paul where she spent hours playing Lucky Lemmings. She was a night owl and loved to watch reality wilderness and survival show but she could not wait for Sunday to roll around because the Walking Dead would be on.
All in all, Naomi was a simple woman who loved the simple things in life which made her the happiest and that was watching her Messy Jessie grow up and graduate and being around her grandbabies Gage and Mason. Family and friends is what made her happy and in the end she got what she always wanted, and that was to have all her family in one room.
Those left to cherish sweet memories of Naomi are her children; Kenneth W. Fondren, Michelle and husband William Seely, Brian Fondren and spouses Kathy Scheuren and Michelle Smith, Patricia Fondren and husband Robert Mallett; her son-in-law, Jefferson Mullenax; grandchildren, Adrianne Dumas, David Fondren, Brandon McKenzie, Glenn McKenzie, Jessica Herzog, Gage Mallett and Mason Mallett; Great Grandchildren, Ackley Dumas and Nevah Dumas. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian McKenzie.
