Mora Baldwin

On Monday February 4th 2019, Mora Jane (Lemay) Baldwin, age 87, passed from this life. She began her life in Siloam Springs, AR on August 12, 1931, the youngest of six children - two brothers and three sisters. She met and married her husband, the Rev Howard E Baldwin, at Bethany-Penial College Bethany OK - now known as Southern Nazarene University and they both graduated by 1951. Mora Jane served others as a Nazarene minister's wife and dedicated her life to education through several private and public school systems.

The journey took Mora Jane from Oklahoma to New Mexico, Colorado and then to Texas. The family settled in Temple TX in 1967 and the journey continued - teaching math at Travis Jr High (now Travis Science Academy), completing a Master of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Texas in 1974 and teaching math at Temple High School 1968 to 1991 and then finishing her career teaching math for the Central Texas College at the prison for females in Gatesville.

Retirement in 1996 started a new direction in Mora Jane's Journey - she took up the study of Tae Kwon Do and achieved her 1st Degree Black Belt at the age of 67 from John Bird Academy of Martial Arts, culminating with a 4th Degree Black Belt and a handle of blkbltgrma (black belt grandma). She is preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, two brothers and one sister. Mora Jane is survived by one son, two daughters, seven grandchildren and two sisters.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
