Mrs. Minnie Fae Spivey, 91, of Temple, died in a local hospital Saturday, March 1, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 3, 2008 at Northside Church of Christ in Temple with Elder Dick Goodwin and Minister Darrell Knight officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.
Mrs. Spivey was born to Charlie Haywood Williams and Minnie Myrtle Curry Williams in Pearl on July 27, 1916. She lived most of her life in Coryell and Bell counties. She was a member of the Gatesville High School Hornettes state championship basketball team of 1935. She was a member of the last graduating class of King's Daughters Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a registered nurse at the Temple V.A. hospital, and also served as Director of Nurses for Tutor Nursing Home in Temple. She married Morris Spivey in Temple on March 8, 1951. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2007. Mrs. Spivey was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Temple.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Scott of Belton; one brother, Cecil Burl Williams of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Della Mae Williams Fogle and Charlie Dois Williams Hooten, both of Killeen; five grandchildren, Courtney Ryder, Danni Scott, Mickey Kerr, Frazier Scott, and Gibbs Scott; and one great granddaughter, Tristen Ryder.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 P.M. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
