Milton Lee Murray Sr., 95, of Temple passed away at a local nursing facility on June 16, 2012. Services will be on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Harper Talasek Funeral Home Temple. Burial is to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery Temple. A visitation is set for Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the funeral home.
Mr. Murray was born in Temple, Texas to James A. Murray and Cora Bell Worden Murray on December 25, 1916. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He was a Sunday school teacher for many years. He had served as a Sunday School Superintendent and was on the Board of Deacons for many years.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945. He was attached to the 63rd Signal Battalion. He served in Northern Ireland, England, North Africa, Morocco, and Italy. While serving he received the EAME Campaign Medal, 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the American Defense Service.
Mr. Murray married Anna Louise Croft in June of 1946. He started working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in July of 1945 and retired in 1980 after 35 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Louise C. Murray three children Marilyn Rohrer of McGregor, Milton Lee Murray, Jr. of Hewitt and Lois Ann Smith of Temple, Texas. He is survived by six grandchildren: Amy Taylor, Jennifer Tull, Meredith Donovan, Kevin Murray, Michael Murray and Jonathan Smith. He has six greatgrandchildren.
