Mildred Gideon

Services for Sue Gideon, 81, of Belton, will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Temple with Doctor Tom Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at the Central Texas Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen.

She died Thursday, January 29 at her home in Belton.

Sue was born September 5, 1933 in Hopkins, Texas, to Othell Stapp and Freda Waller Stapp. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in Texas. Sue married her soul mate and best friend, George D. Gideon, in 1952 and they were blessed with their first daughter, Debbie (Bentley). George was commissioned and stationed in Panama City, Florida and Sue was a proud Air Force pilot's wife. They were blessed with a second daughter, Cyndie (Chapman) while living in Arizona. Upon returning to Texas in 1960, Sue earned a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. She taught for Temple ISD at Western Hills Elementary and Bethune Comet. She then managed the office of Gideon and Associates Photography. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Temple where she was a Stephen Minister,a member of the Young at Heart Group, and the Dawson Sunday School Class.

Sue, or Grandma Susie as she was known, loved her family and was very dedicated to her grandchildren. She loved making every holiday special and creating family traditions. Sue had a great passion for Jesus, family, friends, shoes, decorating, orchids and traveling.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ken Stapp.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, George; daughters, Debbie Bentley and husband Richard and Cyndie Chapman and husband Randy; sister Kay Baker; grandchildren Hunter Bentley and wife Krystle, Meagan Reynolds and husband Wesley, Thomas Bentley and Grayson Williams; great-grandchildren Paxton Reynolds, Warren Williams and Luke Bentley; nephew Ric Stapp; and numerous nieces and nephews.
