Michael Jeffrey

Graveside services for Michael Alan Jeffrey, 67, of Harker Heights, will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Temple.

Mr. Jeffrey died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in Austin, Texas.

He was born June 25, 1946 in Temple, Texas to Lloyd N. Jeffrey and Virginia Coleman Jeffrey. He was retired from the United States Army, having served in the Field Artillery during the Vietnam War and with the 1st Calvary Division during Desert Storm. During his service he was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal 7th Award, Army of Occupation Medal Berlin, National Defense Service Medal with one Service Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal Korea, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, Armed forces Reserve Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon Numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 3, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Valorous Unit Award, Expert Badge Rifle, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal, and Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars.

After his retirement from the military, Mr. Jeffrey was a History and Government professor at Central Texas College in Killeen. He lived in the Harker Heights area all his life and was married to Yongcha Kim Jeffrey.

Mr. Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Yongcha a son, Richard N. Jeffrey of Harker Heights daughter, Lisa Jeffrey Koonce and soninlaw Charles of Austin grandson Charles Michael Koonce of Austin sister, Nikki Thompson and nephew Barrett Thompson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Frankel, Dr. Sandbach, Dr. Pham and the hard working, dedicated staff at Seton Medical Center, and especially the Nurses on 7 North.
