Services for Melvin W. Ferguson, 89, of Temple, will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24 at Bellwood Memorial Park with Pastor Dan Mappus officiating. Visitation will be 10 11 a.m. on Thursday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home.
Mr. Ferguson died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at a local hospital.
He was born December 23, 1924 in Durango, Texas to Sam A. Ferguson and Ethel M. Griffin Ferguson. He graduated from Temple High School and from Hieronymus Business School. Melvin had lived in Temple since 1949 and was an Accounts Receivable bookkeeper for the Temple Daily Telegram for 37 years, retiring in January 1990. He was a member of the Temple First Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ethel his first wife, Mary Hattie Witte his second wife, Doris Wayne Paxton and his brotherinlaw, Ray Stallings.
Melvin is survived by his sisterinlaw, Minnie Mae Stallings of Corsicana Nieces, Barbara Moe and husband Dale of Corsicana and Marijean Pernice and husband Gary of Georgia great niece Michelle Moe Braun great nephew Michael Moe greatgreat nephew Simon Michael Moe greatgreat niece Lana Ray Gober and Cousin Naomi Ferguson.
The family suggests that donations in Melvins name be made to the charity of your choice.
