Melvin Barnett

Melvin C. Barnett, 91, of Temple, passed away August 20, 2012 at a local hospital. A chapel service will be Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Harper Talasek Funeral Home Temple at 2 pm.
Melvin was born to Newton and Willie Crane Barnett on January 12, 1921 in Franklin Texas. He married the love of his life Bernice Ashley on September 29, 1954. Melvin retired from the V.A. Hospital at 55 and later retired from Scott and White at the age of 70. His passions were cooking and doing yard work. He proudly served his country by joining the U.S. Airforce.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Don Hilton, a sister Irene Andrews and a brother, Marvin Barnett.
He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Bernice Barnett, his loving children Peggy Adcox and husband, Don of Temple, Texas, Jean Gaul and husband, Kenny of Carrollton, Texas, and Joy Barnett of Kingwood, Texas, four grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren and a host of dear friends. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 68pm. HarperTalasek Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
