Matilda Vriseno

Matilda R. Vriseno, age 70 of Temple, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday December 3, 2020 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Matilda was born on November 17, 1950 to Jose B. and Minnie G. Rios in Uvalde, Texas. She married Ruben Vriseno and attended school at Temple College. She was in the King’s Daughters Nursing Program and the U.H.M.B. Nursing Program where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. Matilda was a nurse for several local nursing homes in the Temple area, King’s Daughters Hospital, and Scott & White Hospital. She was also a school nurse at Scott Elementary School and Travis Middle School. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple.

Matilda is preceded in death by her parents, Jose B. and Minnie G. Rios; brother, Johnnie Joe Rios; brother, Ernesto G. Rios; and sister, Belia R. Leija.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her loving husband, Ruben Vriseno; brother, Tony G. Rios; brother, Cipriano Rios; sister, Mary Rios Saunders; daughter, Renee Rubino; son, Ruben Jay Vriseno; son, Chris Rios; son, Mark Vriseno; son, Samuel Forman, son, Jason Vriseno; 29 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren (and one on the way); and her beloved furbabies, Mya and Lance.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm with a Rosary recited at 6 pm Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
