Mary Lou (Taylor) Hobday, age 90, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 at her daughter’s residence in Centerville after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be held at 3 pm Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Oenaville Cemetery.
Mary Lou was born on January 26, 1931 to Creed Freeman Taylor and Grace Lee (Southerland) Taylor in Pendleton, Texas. She graduated from Troy High School in 1949 and married Thomas Harold Hobday on May 20, 1949. After graduation, she attended Waco Beauty School where she received her Beautician License in 1953. Mary Lou owned and operated Deb’s Beauty Salon in Temple until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple, joining in 1957. She loved tending her many gardens and plants, fishing, bingo and just sitting on the front porch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Hobday, who passed away in 2014; parents, Creed Freeman Taylor and Grace Lee (Southerland) Taylor; sister, Pauline Hagler; sister, Gracie Lee Bell; sister, Betty Jo York; brother, Freeman Taylor; brother, Floyd Taylor; brother, Morris Taylor; brother, Bill Taylor; and brother, Johnny Ray Taylor.
Survivors include daughter, Deborah Miller and husband, James of Centerville; grandson, Michael Coburn and wife, Emily of Orlando, FL; granddaughter, Michelle Davison and husband, George of Navasota; and four great-grandchildren.
