Mary Vargas

Mass of Christian Burial for Mary R. Vargas, of Temple, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 7, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple with Rev. Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. She passed away Friday, March 4, at her residence, surrounded by family.

Mrs. Vargas was born in Cameron to John and Maria Delgado Reyes. She was a graduate of Temple High School, and Baylor College of Nursing in Waco, where she became a Registered Nurse. She worked for Scott White Memorial Hospital in Temple as head nurse until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple, where she was a member of the church choir and a long time member of the ladies group, the Guadalupanas.

Survivors include her husband, Joe R. Vargas, Sr. of Temple three sons and two daughtersinlaw, Josie and Joe R. Vargas, Jr. , the late Julie Vargas and Ruben A. Vargas, and Nancy and Micheal A. Vargas, all of Temple one daughter, Belinda A. VargasLeon of Temple eight beloved grandchildren seven beloved great grandchildren and two sisters, Janie Gomez of Temple and Lupe Reyes of Dallas.

Visitation will be Monday from 57 P.M., with a rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 707 South 6th Street, Temple, Texas 76501.
