Mary Martinez

Mary Ann Pekar Martinez, 58, of Temple died Wednesday at her residence in Temple. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2010 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple. Reverend Ranjan Cletus will officiate. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park.

Mary was born May 20, 1952 to Charlie J. and Frances Zak Pekar in Taylor. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1970 and started working for HEB, where she has been employed for 40 years. She married Manuel Martinez, Sr. in March 1981. He preceded her in death February 1993. Mary has also worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken for 10 years and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Temple.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Albert and Robert Pekar and sisters, Janice Klepac, Hattie Volek and Carolyn Redford. Mary is survived by her son, Antonio Martinez of Temple daughter, Amanda Marie Martinez of Temple brothers, Johnny Pekar of Nevada and Bart Pekar of Temple sisters, Alice Welborn, Frances Polasek, Matylda Klepac, Shirley Hutka and Susie Strakos all of Temple, Helen Malcik of Red Ranger and Georgia Dubcak of League City step children, grandchildren , great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
