Mary Marshall

Memorial services for Mary Alice Marshall, 104, of Temple will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Temple with Pastor Don Moore officiating. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Marshall died Friday, December 20, at a local hospital.

She was born December 23, 1908, in New Boston, Texas to Tom F. Cowley and Ada Howard Cowley. She attended Baylor College for Women now the University of Mary HardinBaylor in the 1920s and subsequently received her masters degree from Baylor University. She lived in Temple for 69 years and taught music at Temple College from 1955 until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of the Temple College Board of Trustees and served as president of the Texas Association of Junior College Board Members and Administrators. She was a Methodist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Marshall, Sr. and her sisters, Grace Cowley and Lola Blanche Miller.

She is survived by a son, Robert Marshall, Jr. a daughter, Marilyn Marshall White five grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be 4 7 p.m. Thursday, December 26 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple College or the First United Methodist Church of Temple.
