Mary Krcha

Mary Lea Young Krcha was born May 12, 1954 to Vivian Elizabeth Wood Young Paulsen of Holland, TX and Gordon Lenoy Young of Bartlett, TX.

Lovingly remembered as CottonTop for her whiteblonde hair as a child, her mother, brothers, and sisters recall many fond memories of stroller rides, softball games, and school dances.

Throughout junior high and high school Mary Lea participated in a wide variety of activities, particularly enjoying basketball and softball. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1973.

Mary Lea met her lifelong partner and soulmate, Dennis Ray Krcha, at a dance at Flag Hall in Cyclone, TX when she was 16. Dennis remembers being attracted to her the first time he laid eyes on her, and convinced her to take their first of many dances together. They recently relived that memory with their fortieth wedding anniversary celebration at Sefcik Hall, with many of their loved ones in attendance.

Mary Lea and Dennis first child, Dennison Wayne, was born January 11, 1975 in Bryan, TX. He had complete reign of the Krcha household until his sister, Kristina Deann, was born nearly seven years later, on August 19, 1980 in Temple, TX. The next handful of years she was busy with band practice, hay rides, cheerleading, baseball games, booster clubs, and church functions, with Mary Lea taking an active role in each facet. Both children graduated from Rogers High School.

Mary Lea was involved in many different programs, committees, clubs, and events throughout her lifetime. She was an avid member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Temple, TX and led many programs, outreaches, and fundraisers for the church.

Mary Lea had a quick wit, infectious laughter, willing hands, and a heart for her family and friends. She loved to dance and create and help others. Mary Lea has touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity.

A celebration of Mary Leas life, faith, family, and friends will begin Sunday night, October 16th, with a visitation from 5:007:00 pm, and rosary 7:00pm, at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Temple, Texas. Following the rosary a meal will be served at the church for family and friends. The funeral will be held on Monday morning October 17th at 10am at St. Marys, with a graveside service immediately following at the Seaton Brethren Cemetery in Bell County, Texas under the direction of HarperTalasek Funeral Home, Temple.

She is preceded in death by her father, Gordon Young.

Mary Lea is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Krcha, children Dennison Krcha of Liberty, MO and his wife Heather and their children Sawyer Elizabeth and Oakley Amelia and Kristina Green of Austin, TX and her husband Bryan and their son Brayden Ellec, and Mary Leas mother, Vivian Paulsen.
