Services for Mary Browning Curtis Davis, 93, of Temple, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating. Interment will follow at Bellwood Memorial Cemetery in Temple.
Mary died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, in a Belton nursing care facility.
Mary was born on May 19, 1921 in Syracuse, New York to Alan Munro Curtis and Harriet Edna Elmer Curtis. She graduated from College with a degree as a Dental Hygienist. As a child she ice skated on Lake Ontario in the winter. Mary married Earl Emmitt Davis and they lived the majority of their life in the Temple area. When Earl was deployed she lived in Florida with her family. She had large collection of hardback books which showed her love for reading and passed this legacy down to her children. She was greatly inspired by the author Golda Meir. Mary had an interest for the Jewish history and culture. Among her favorite entertainers were Neil Diamond, The Boston Pops Orchestra, and Tony Bennett. Mary loved and served her family with the biggest heart, the best tea, and homemade spaghetti.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, John Curtis and Patrick Curtis; grandparents; Edward and Olivia Curtis.
Survivors include her three sons; Michael Davis, John Davis, and Jim Davis; two daughters; Sherry Davis, and Alice Romfh; four grandchildren; Lauren Harris, George Christopher Romfh, Jenny Davis, and Kevin Foster; and one great-grandchild; Emily Faith Harris.
Visitation will be Friday, January 23rd from 6 - 8 p.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
