Flores
January 30, 1956 — October 30, 2026
Little River Academy
Marty Flores, 70, of Little River-Academy, Texas, passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and love for his family.
Marty was born on January 30, 1956, in Temple, Texas, to Marcello and Carmen Flores. He graduated from Temple High School and went on to work as an Environmental Services Manager, spending the majority of his career with Baylor Scott & White Health. He shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Susie Flores, whom he considered his greatest blessing and accomplishment.
Above all else, Marty was a devoted family man who worked hard to provide for those he loved. He had a strong work ethic, treated everyone fairly, and never wanted to cause trouble for anyone. Marty never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. His wonderful sense of humor, kind heart, and love for life brought joy to those around him.
Marty had a deep appreciation for classic rock music, and listening to his favorite songs always brought him happiness. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed college football and had a love-hate relationship with the Dallas Cowboys. He treasured gathering with family and friends around the kitchen table, sharing stories, laughter, and good company.
He also enjoyed watching old Western movies featuring Clint Eastwood, along with The Andy Griffith Show and Leave It to Beaver. In the last few years of his life, Marty attended Bethel Church in Temple, where his relationship with the Lord continued to deepen. His faith, love for his family, and joyful spirit will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Marcello and Carmen Flores; and his sister, Dora Solorzano.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Susie Flores; his sons, Jimmy Flores and Timmothy Flores; his daughter, Rebecca Shuman; his brother, Larry Flores; and his grandchildren, Lajon Hilligoss, Azia Weaver, Maria Flores, and Naomi Flores. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow, providing family and friends an opportunity to gather, share memories, and celebrate Marty's life.
Flowers are warmly welcomed by the family as an expression of love and remembrance in honor of Marty.
