Marjorie Hicks

Memorial services for Marjorie Elaine Hicks, 82, of Goldthwaite, will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Hicks died on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at a local care facility.

Marjorie Elaine Hicks (Paine) was born on March 11, 1934 in Jackson, Michigan to Emory Madison Paine and Helen Bradbury. She graduated from Ohio University with a Doctorate Degree in Journalism. She enjoyed writing short stories and novels, and enjoyed photography. She was extremely proud of being published in the A.P. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #116.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Paul E. Hicks; two sons, Emory Vernon Hicks and William Bradbury Hicks (Sharon); daughter, Cassandra Pauline Weintrab (Jeffery); one brother, Charles Paine (Caroline); a sister, Susan Giester (Frank); four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mrs. Hicks memory to the American Cancer Society.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the ladies in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for your support and to Kindred Hospice for your care.

Arrangements are in the care of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
