AND TIME STANDS STILL
I would if I could, sneak only a peak
At the girl I used to be.
For young was the heart and timid the look
Of my childhood by the sea.
But once in a while, when days are long.
I wander back, thru words of a song
--And time stands still.
I fancied a man, a ring, and a life -
And took me off, to be his wife.
For the eye stood still, and worshipped his gaze,
Completely spellbound, in a powerless daze -
Of times long past and all we knew,
I'm reminded of wonders, and how they grew.
--And time stands still.
I found my fulfillment, in children so fair -
Six was my blessing, but not to be
For sorrow and heartbreak, came in despair,
As one so small, so loved, was taken from me.
But now I know why, and rejoice in his dust,
As God in His wisdom - took him for us;
--And time stands still.
My earthly abode, carries my name.
For what it was, it isn't the same.
A rake, a hoe, and many a seed
All combined, to hide the weed.
"Aye tis my corner," where rock does abound,
A canopy of elms, chatting birds are its sound
--And time stands still.
Years pass by, and the face grows old,
Weary the feet, but young the soul.
N'er wanting to roam, to far distant places
Captures my soul in grandchildren faces-
For I see in them as I saw in mine
Objects of love, to remain divine
--And times stands still.
When the sting of this life, and journey is o'er,
I'll slip thru my valley, with angels I'll soar
Eager for heaven; "It's waiting for me",
"To see Jesus, to thank Him" for all that I'll be
"Singing His praises, shouting His name",
I, with my family, will loudly proclaim
--And time will stand still.
