Services for Marilyn Hoster, 94 of Temple, will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Temple with Reverend Brad St. Romain officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Cemetery at 4:30 p.m.
Mrs. Hoster died Thursday, November 17, at her home in Temple.
Marilyn Glaze Hoster was born September 19, 1922, in Goliad, Texas to Ben Cable Glaze and Marjorie Winters Glaze. She married David William Hoster, Sr. in 1946, and they moved from Taylor to Temple in 1967. Marilyn received her Master's in Education from Texas State University and began her long career in Education. She was a classroom teacher in many locations, including Victoria, Taylor and Temple; and was the curriculum coordinator for Taylor ISD. She later became the Principal of Reagan Elementary in Temple. Marilyn retired as Superintendent of the Temple ISD. She also worked for the Tuberculosis Association. After her retirement, Marilyn was an advisor for student teachers for UMHB and Texas A&M University.
Mrs. Hoster was a lifelong Episcopalian and attended Christ Episcopal Church and St. Francis Episcopal Church for many years. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling, and one of her fondest memories was their many trips to England, and especially London. For the past two years, Marilyn had a special relationship with her grandson, Chris Hoster, who provided loving companionship and took great care of her.
Mrs. Hoster was preceded in death by her husband, David William Hoster, Sr. in 1998.
She is survived by her son, Reverend David William Hoster, Jr. and wife Terrie; grandchildren, Ben Hoster, Chester Hoster, Chris Hoster, and David Hoster; great-grandchildren, Duncan Hoster, Rory Hoster, Peter Hoster and Noah Hoster; and cousin, Francis Meriwether.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Hoster's name may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church in Temple, 5001 Hickory Street, Temple 76502.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Marilyn's close friend, Cindy Hoelscher, for the extraordinary, loving way she cared for Marilyn for many, many years.
