Marie Davis

Private family services for Marie Nelson Davis, 92, will be held at a later date. Mrs. Davis passed away Wednesday, March 2, at a local hospital

Marie Nelson Davis was born December 12, 1923 in Troy, Texas to Joe H. Nelson, Sr. and Melisa Belk Nelson. She graduated from Troy High School and then worked in Dallas as a telephone operator for the U.S. Army. After reuniting with her high school sweetheart, John B. Davis, she became a Navy wife and traveled to Guam, Hawaii, California, Africa, and Alaska. They started their family in 1946 and were blessed with five children. Marie was a member of First Christian Church of Temple.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Davis; brothers, Joe and Robert Nelson; and sisters, Merle Ludwick and Joy Stevens.

She is survived by four sons, John (Denise) Davis, David (Cindy) Davis, Timothy (Janie) Davis, and Michael (Jill) Davis; and a daughter, Melissa Davis; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie's name may be made to the First Christian Church of Temple.
