Maria Vargas

Maria Ramirez Vargas, 96 of Belton, passed away at Friday, October 30, 2009 at her residence. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton with Father Hilario Guajardo officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.

Maria Vargas was born August 24, 1913 to Domingo and Rufina Mares Ramirez in Belton, Texas. On October 1, 1928, she was married to Pedro Vargas in Waco, Texas. She worked as a homemaker. Mrs. Vargas was a member of Guadalupana, Cruzitia and Christ the King Church in Belton. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple before she moved to Belton.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son, Edward Vargas, Sr.

Survivors include: sons; Joe Vargas, Sr. of Temple, Amos Vargas of Ocean Spring, Mississippi, and Almon ChicoBargas of San Antonio; daughters; Bessie Bautista of Belton, Dolores Guajardo of Temple, Donna B. Lary of Dallas, Kathryn Vargas of Belton, Dorothy Mendoza of Hewitt, and Irene Vargas of Belton, 39 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-7PM Monday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Rosary will be recited at 6:00PM.

Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
