Maria Suniga

Maria Medina Suniga, 91, of Temple, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at a local living facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 11, 2013 at 10am at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Ranjan Cletus officiating. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Maria was born on April 14, 1921 to Jose and Rita Gutierrez Medina in Brownsville, Texas. She worked Civil Service at Ft. Hood for 42 years and at the time of her retirement, set a Guinness World Record for longest time at one post. She was a former choir member of St. Mary Catholic Church. A past member of Our Lady of Guadalupe for over 40 years and a past member of the Guadalupanas at Our lady of Guadalupe.
She is preceded in death by 5 babies, 1 sister Cecia Esquire, 2 brothers John Joe Medina, and Frank Medina.
Maria is survived by 2 daughters Melissa Suniga of Temple, and Dianne Suniga of San Antonio, 1 sister Henrietta Wilson of Lawton, OK, 1 grandchild, Eric S. Mixon, and a host of dear friends.
