Maria Suarez

Mrs. Maria Benavidez Suarez, 77, of Temple, died Thursday, August 28, 2008 in a Temple hospital.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Monday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.

Mrs. Suarez was born to Jose Maria Benavidez and Florinda Zapata Benavidez in Troy on April 25, 1931. She was a lifelong resident of Bell County and had lived in Temple since 1956. She married Fernando Suarez in Waco on August 11, 1949. She was a homemaker and had formerly worked at Friendly Spot Diner, American Desk and Perma Cast. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple.

Survivors include her husband, Fernando Suarez of Temple; one son, Guadalupe Suarez of Temple; two daughters, Rosa Chavez and Virginia Suarez, both of Temple; three brothers, Ramon Benavidez of Tulia, Amado Benavidez of Abilene and Joe Pete Benavidez of Abilene; one sister, Manuela Deleon of Eddy; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Reynaldo Benavidez, Sr. and one sister, Alicia Hernandez.

Visitation will be Monday from 6-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
