Maria Rivera

Services for Maria Luz Rivera, 78, of Temple, are will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2014, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple, with Reverend Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Rivera died Monday, October 6, at her home.

She was born February 21, 1936, in Temple, Texas to Estanislao Barbosa and Frances Hernandez Barbosa. She lived in the Temple area most of her life and was employed at Montgomery Wards for 20 years and Mobil Chemical for 13 years when she retired.

Mrs. Rivera was preceded in death by a son, Burt Rivera a brother, Angel Barbosa and her parents, Estanislao and Frances Barbosa.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jesse T. Rivera son, Glenn Rivera and wife Mimi of Elizabeth Colorado daughters, Belinda Rivera, Natalie Garcia, and Elaine Wylie and husband Rick, all of Temple brothers, Joe Barbosa, Pete Barbosa, Ralph Barbosa, and Joe Luis Barbosa sisters, Tina Constancio, Mickie Suniga Beatrice Guillen, and Lucy Perez grandchildren, Naticia, Nicolas, Amanda, Anthony, Marcus, Sabrina, Sebastian, and Matthew and four greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 7 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014, at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple. Recitation of Rosary will be from 7 8 p.m.
