Maria Pi�On

Maria Elena Tamez Pion, 66 of Temple, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple with Rev. Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.
Maria Pion was born July 24, 1945 to Sebastian and Maria Rincon Tamez. On September 11, 1966, she was married to Frank Pion at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple. Most recently, she worked as an ESL instructor for Temple College. Mrs. Pion volunteered for numerous community organizations. She was a member of the Pioneer Club, Lulac, and Texas Master Gardeners. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Pion of Temple, sons Michael Pion of San Antonio, and Sebastian Pion of Chicago, Illinois, daughters Monica Pion of Austin, and Olivia Pion of Temple, siblings Olivia Soto of Garland, Lupe Gonzales of Killeen, and Sylvia Maedgen of Troy, and 2 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00pm8:00pm Friday, August 5, 2011 at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm.
