Funeral services for Margaret Eskew Slocum, 90, of Temple, will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Johnny Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
Mrs. Slocum died Saturday, April 18, at a local hospital.
Margaret was born April 20, 1924 in Moro Bay, Arkansas to Martin Eskew and Grace Vines Eskew. She married William E. Slocum and he preceded her in death. Margaret was a waitress and retired from the Bluebonnet Café. She was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church. Margaret loved her family and was extremely proud of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband; a son, George Rickey Little; a daughter, Shirley Perot Whiddon; a brother; and four sisters.
She is survived by sons, Thomas Ray and wife Flosie of Bossier City, LA., Larry Roepke of Troy, TX., and David Roepke and wife Diane of Troy, TX.; a brother, Clifton "Buddy" Eskew of Bastrop, LA; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
