Marcus M. Guthrie

Marcus M. Guthrie, 89 of Temple, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025.

He was born to Marcus Clay Guthrie and Juanita Latta Guthrie on March 11, 1936. He married Barbara Robertson Guthrie, and they were married for 60 years. Marcus worked for the State Highway Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator for 35 years.

He was a descendant of the Chickasaw Nation, and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and most of all, spending time with friends and family.

Marcus is preceded in death by his parents, Marcus Clay and Juanita Guthrie; wife, Barbara Guthrie; brothers, Ferrell Guthrie, Norman Guthrie, and Jerry Guthrie; and son, Ronnie Guthrie.

Survivors include his brother, Johnny Barnett; sisters, Rebecca Ballard, and Delores Barnett; son, Lynn Guthrie; daughter, Debra Guthrie; grandchildren, Shane Guthrie, Heath Guthrie, Shelby Guthrie, and Wyatt Guthrie; 4 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 10:00 am.
