M. Lucille Parker was born December 23, 1922 in Beeville, TX to Currie Gillum and Ancel Hobert Irwin. Lucille passed away May 20, 2011 in Temple, TX.
Visitation will be held from 68 p.m. Sunday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple. Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday May 23, 2011 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Brooks Parker and her brother Ancel Rensa Irwin. She is survived by her children Connie Gilbert Long and husband Robert of Houston TX, Lynna Marie Parker of Dallas TX, and Larrry Brooks Parker and wife Debra of Temple TX. Grandchildren Tamala Long Smith, Dennis Edward Long, Rebecca Long Settles, Trisha Lynn Parker Eskelin and Jason Brooks Parker, greatgrandchildren Steven and Robert Hail, Brittany, Alyssa and Chase Long, Jordyn Brooke Wells, Madison Elizabeth Settles, Brooks William Hurley, Riley August Eskelin, Emily Renee Parker and Rachel Kay Parker and one greatgreat grandchild James Marshall Hail.
Lucille was active for many years in the local Girl Scout organization starting in Brownie Troops and leading Troop 262 through Junior High and High School Graduation in Belton. She was especially effective at outdoor activities such as camping and crafts. She directed the Bell County Welfare dispersion organization for many years working with local and transient families in need. She was an avid gardener Horticultural Society Member, artist and teacher known for her sense of humor and fun. Her artistic talents include oil painting, acrylic painting, and drawing. Lucille was a life long Southern Baptist. She served at early Scott and White as a nurse and substitute teacher in Belton Schools. She loved God, her family and was a friend in need to many she encountered during her life.
