Services for Lucinda "Lucy" Islas, 63, of Temple will be Wednesday, March 8 at 2:00 pm at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Cremation will follow.
Ms. Lucinda Islas passed away on Friday, March 3, at her residence.
Lucinda "Lucy" Islas was born on August 5, 1953 to Anastacio Islas and Maria Molinero in Mexico. She was one of seven children. She was a proud matriarch of the family and showed it through her collection of pictures. She enjoyed crocheting for her grandchildren. Lucy was well known for her tamales. She spent a lot of her time with her family. She was an emerging grandmother who was learning all the latest technology. She was privileged to know our Father, Creator, Jehovah God, and was devoted to her faith. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.
She is preceded in death by her father; daughter, Alexandra Arvizu; two brothers, Antonio Islas, Eulalio Islas.
Survivors include her mother; son, Cesar Islas and wife Anabell, seven daughters, Maria Arvizu and husband Pedro, Esther Arvizu and husband Luis, Laura Montoya and husband Alex, Juana Arvizu, Hermelinda and husband Oscar Marenco, Amelia Reyna and husband Gustavo, Dulce Islas; three brothers, Juan Islas and wife Maria, Alejandro Islas and wife Barbara, Guadalupe Islas and wife Silvia; sister, Maria Diaz, along with numerous grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
