Loyd Blankemeier

Loyd Carl Blankemeier, born to Chas B. and Selma B. Blankemeier in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on May 16, 1931, passed from this life on July 26, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. He faced his death as he faced life with courage and honor to his God, his family and his country.

Loyd served his Church, First Lutheran of Temple, for forty-seven years, serving as an elder and council president. Loyd served his country as an air traffic controller for twenty years in the United States Air Force where he distinguished himself by earning the Bronze Star for his courage while serving at Danang, Republic of Vietnam. He continued his service to our country by serving an additional eighteen years as an air traffic controller and data systems specialist at Robert Gray Army airfield for the Department of Defense.

Loyd is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roland and Carl Blankemeier and his sister Anita Blankemeier.

He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, Ruby Locke Blankemeier; his children, David Blankemeier and wife Vivian of Temple; Jill Lorenz and husband Richard of Allen; Faye Morrow and husband James of Moffat; and Steven Blankemeier and wife Denise of Temple; grandchildren, Charlene Travis and husband Zach of Allen, Jaclyn Bradford and husband Shane of Wylie, Ryan Blankemeier, Rebekah Morrow, Andrew Morrow and wife Ashley of Moffat; and great-grandchildren; Addyson, Aidan and Channing Travis, Ethan Blankemeier, Tabitha and Lydia Morrow.

Funeral services for Loyd will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Russell Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.

A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the funeral home.
