Louisa Gilmore

Funeral services for Louisa R. Gilmore, 83, of Temple will be held at 10am Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Johnny Miller officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Needles, CA at a later date.

Mrs. Gilmore, a resident of Sterling House in Temple, passed away Friday at Scott and White Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on October 31, 1930, in Pittsburgh, PA., the daughter of Albert L Huber and Bertha Christina Birch. She lived in Needles, CA for most of her life. She met Robert J. Gilmore on the first day of school when both started 1st grade at D Street School, in Needles. A chance meeting at a school reunion brought them together again and they were married in 1989.

A graduate of Ramona Convent High School in Alhambra, CA. she later went on to earn an LVN degree. She worked as a surgical nurse at the Needles Hospital, retiring in 1990. After coming to Temple she worked at the Bell County Expo Center and Sams Club.

Louisa was an accomplished pianist and organist, playing for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in Needles she served as a member of the Needles volunteer fire company with two of her sons and was a recipient of the Order of the Rose, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, Temple 1st Ward and attended Oak Park Methodist church with her husband Robert. She is survived by her husband, sons Robert W. Kemp Dianne, Paul L. Kemp Pam and Charles A. Kemp daughters Janyce L. Lipson, Barbra L. Bilharz Carl, Robi Gilmore Lee Keith and Donna Gilmore Singleton Rick, 19 Grandchildren, 36 Great grandchildren and 1 Greatgreat grandchild. She was predeceased by her brother Richard J Huber, his wife Alice, her sister, Alberta L. Holcomb, and her husband Harry.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 68pm at the funeral home, 500 W Barton Ave, Temple.
