Loren Eugene Swett, 81 of Temple, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 in a local hospital. Funeral service will be 1:00pm Friday, September 3, 2010 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Brent Boatwright officiating. Burial will follow in Reeds Lake Cemetery with full military honors.
Loren Eugene Swett was born July 4, 1929 to Orville and Nina Grace Evans Swett in Delphos, Iowa. He married Mattie Alice Bleeker on August 8, 1952 in Temple, Texas. He proudly served our country in the United States Army for over 22 years, during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Mr. Swett was a member of the VFW in Belton, the American Legion, and served as a commander for the DAV, Chapter 111 in Temple. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 7, 2010.
Survivors include: sons H.L. Johnny Mayes of Belton, Curtis Wayne Mayes of Little River, and Weldon Dee Easley of Gig Harbor, Washington, brother Carl Henry Swett of Savannah, Missouri, sister Mary Lucille Novak of Diagonal, Iowa, 15 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to any Disabled American Veteran organization, or Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will be 5:00 7:00pm Thursday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple.
