Lora Covington

Services for Lora Turner Covington, 89, of Temple will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple with the Rev. Billy Ray Crow officiating.

Burial will follow in Bellwood Cemetery in Temple.

Mrs. Covington died Saturday, August 31, at a local hospital.

She was born September 20, 1923, in Cooter, Missouri to Virgil and Rosa Goth Funderburk. She received her nursing degree from Scott White School of Nursing in 1943 and was a practicing nurse for 30 years. She was employed at Kings Daughters Hospital and was also head ICU nurse at Olin E. Teague Veterans Hospital for 14 years. She was active in the 1943 Scott White Alumni Group.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Billy Markley Turner, Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana two daughters, Sarah Lynn Booe of Owatonna, Minnesota and Katie Lee OConner of Des Moines, Iowa a brother, Roy Funderburk of Greenfield Center, New York four grand children and 13 great grand children.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be 68 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
