Lillian Krueger

October 3, 1922 — May 4, 2014

Lillian Krueger was born Lillian Jalowy on October 3, 1922, in Orchard, Texas, and died May 4, 2014, at the age of 91. She moved to Houston in her teens where she met and married Johnnie Krueger on April 11, 1942. They moved to a farm in Temple, Texas, in July of 1957. He was a farmer and she was the boss. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Temple where she participated in several ministries including teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, making many banners, and as the churchs representative to the Lutheran Service Center in Killeen to minister to those in the military many who still call her Mama Krueger. She and her husband were, for many years, the unofficial greeters of the church and many visitors enjoyed a great meal at their home upon attending for the first time. They enjoyed dancing and were regulars at Seaton Star Hall on Saturday night for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie in 2002 her mother, Elizabeth Sliva and two step dads, John and Louis Sliva, and her brother, Oscar Jalowy.

She is survived by four children, Peggy Turnipseed and husband Milton of Walburg, J. W. Krueger and wife Cindy of Temple, Garland Krueger and wife Pat of Temple, and Larry Krueger and wife Sally of Waco also 5 grandchildren, Dennis Sally Turnipseed of Sugar Land, Michelle Clay Cole of Liberty Hill, David Michelle Turnipseed of Hutto, Tiffany Krueger and Tayna Taylor of Temple, and Joshua Shawn Krueger McAdams of Dripping Springs and 9 great grandchildren Kelly, Austin, and Kate Turnipseed Chelsea, Carly, and Cade Cole Kyle, Makenna, and Kinsley Turnipseed. She is also survived by two half brothers, John and Lawrence Sliva and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 68 pm at Harper Talasek Funeral home in Temple. Funeral will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 1 pm with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Temple or a charity of your choice.
