Leona Harris

Graveside Services for Leona Virginia Harris, 84, of Temple will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 11 at Bellwood Memorial Cemetery.

Leona V. Harris died on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at a local hospital.

Leona Virginia Harris was born on December 17, 1932 to Robert Warner and Ella Mae Sutterfield in Vian, Oklahoma. She was raised by her step-father Jim and Ella Mae Holt and lived in Enid, Oklahoma. Leona married the love of her life Charley Harris in 1948. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Temple, Texas. Together they began their family to included three daughters. Leona worked for Woods Manufacturing. She taught the life lessons of keeping a house clean, work diligence and to try and remember your 30's, if you can. Leona and her family enjoyed traveling and meeting up with distance family members for group vacations. She loved history and visiting historical markers along the way. Her hearts passion was her family and the grandchildren. Hobbies included reading mystery and history novels. She was a Baptist by faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 62 years.

Survivors include her three daughters, Gaylene McMillan, Lillian Bartek and husband Garland, Debbie Dye and husband Gary; three grandchildren, Mitzi Hawkins, Shawn Fontz, Jared Dye and seven great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on Monday, July 10 from 11:00 am -6:00 pm at that the funeral home.

Arrangements are in the care of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.
