Leona Grace Pontia Finney, 95, passed away at Cornerstone Gardens in Temple, Texas, on Thursday, January 21, 2021.  A family service will be held in Zanesville, Ohio, at a later date.

Leona was born to Grace and Emil Pontia on March 10, 1925, in Martins Ferry, Ohio.  She married Lee Irvin Finney on December 9, 1943.  Leona worked as a practical nurse for Frame’s Nursing Home, was a molder and quality control inspector at Essex Wire, and volunteered at Genesis Hospice in Zanesville.  She was a member of the Sweet Adelines.  She attended Market Street Baptist Church in Zanesville; South Logan Church of Christ in Logan, Ohio; and Central Baptist Church, in Clovis, New Mexico.

Leona was preceded in death her husband Lee Finney and sons Norman Finney and Joseph Finney.  She is survived by four daughters: Linda Williams (Larry) of Belton, Texas; Elaine Riggs (Gene) of Crooksville, Ohio; Eileen Coker (Larry) of Clovis, New Mexico; and Amy Culbertson (Kevin) of Logan, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Christine Finney of Tiltonsville, Ohio; sister-in-law Patricia Pontia of Yorkville, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Market Street Baptist Church, 140 N 6th Street, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701; or Genesis Hospice Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.

The family would like to thank the staff of Cornerstone Gardens and Scott & White Hospice for the care they provided to Leona.
