Services for LaVerne Janice Pechal, 80, of Temple, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at Seaton Brethren Church with Pastor Joe Emerson officiating. Burial will follow in Seaton Cemetery.
Mrs. Pechal died Monday, July 4, at a local hospital.
LaVerne Janice Pechal was born April 10, 1936 in Oscar, Texas to Frank D. and Vlasta Drevojanek Mikeska. She was baptized and confirmed at Seaton Brethren Church, where she was a lifelong member. She attended Little Elm School and graduated from Temple High School in 1954. She attended Temple Junior College. On June 1, 1957, LaVerne married Clarence Pechal in Temple, at the home of Reverend and Mrs. F.J. Kostohryz. She worked for SPJST in Temple for many years. LaVerne was a member of SPJST Lodge #47, WFLA Lodge #416, the Tanglewood Home Demonstration Club, and the Seaton Christian Sisters. She played the piano and was a member of the choir at Seaton Brethren Church for many years.
Mrs. Pechal is survived by her husband of 59 years, Clarence, of Temple; son, Steve Pechal and wife, Patricia, of Temple; daughter, Linda Machicek and husband, Andy, of Temple; grandsons, Joshua Andrew Machicek and Matthew Stephen Machicek; an aunt, Hilda Mikeska; sister-in-law, Vallie Zavodny and husband, Leon, of Rogers; brother-in-law, Robert Dudley of Richardson; sister-in-law, Lorene Kotrla of Temple; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m., Friday, July 8, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
In lieu of flowers, donations in LaVerne's memory may be made to the Seaton Brethren Church, 12561 State Highway 53, Temple, Texas 76501.
