She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crochet, embroidery, gardening (fruit, vegetables, and flowers), canning, and preserving what she grew. She loved the Lord and referred to Him often as “My Jesus”. LaVerne loved talking about and to Him throughout her day, loved reading the Bible and having it read to her in her later days. Her favorite books were Matthew, where he talked about God and to relate to Him. The other book she loved was Revelation because it is about the revelation of Jesus as He is today and His coming again. She loved cooking, and baking for her family and others. LaVerne was always giving to others. She liked church but could not attend due to advanced debilities in later life. She began to watch Charles Stanley on Sundays as her alternative to attending local congregation. LaVerne loved animals, especially her chickens.
