Larry Thomas

Services for Larry Dale Thomas, Sr., 90, of Temple will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Reverend Billy Koinm officiating.

Mr. Thomas died Tuesday, May 3, at a local hospital.

Larry Dale Thomas was born April 9, 1926 in Bland, Texas to James Jason Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Dixon Thomas. He joined the U.S. Army and served as a medic in the Pacific Theater in WWII. He met and married Daisy Fern Thomas in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1947, and they moved to Texas via Greyhound bus. He retired from the VA Hospital in Temple as a Counselor. Larry was a member of American Legion Post #133, the Senior Dance Club of Troy, Temple and Belton and a Charter Member of Heights Baptist Church. He loved dancing, playing dominoes, and taking his grandchildren camping.

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and six sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy; a son, Larry Dale Thomas, Jr. (Vicki); a daughter, Terry Hunt (Jim); two brothers, Lloyd Thomas (Wanda) and James Thomas; two sisters, Virginia Foster and Betty Kittoe; six grandchildren, Tami Lorch, Anitra Brennan, Sandi Greaves, Heath Fowler, Bonnie Johnson, and Brad Hunt; and 13 great-grandchildren, Jordan Lorch, Cameron Lorch, Payton Lorch, Carson Lorch, Liam Brennan, Kade Brennan, Hannon Greaves, Devean Greaves, Kari Greaves, Chase Fowler, Kaiya Fowler, Colin Fowler, and Evelyn Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Larry's name may be made to Heights Baptist Church.
