Lad Zatopek

Lad J. Zatopek, 93, of Temple, passed away September 13, 2012 at a local care facility. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Saturday September 15, 2012 at St. Luke Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in West, Tx, under the direction of HarperTalasek Funeral Home Temple.
Lad was born to the late Frank and Mary Janovsky Zatopek on August 21, 1919 in Cyclone, Tx. On December 27, 1958 Ladislav married the love of his life, Mary Ann Gerik. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Cyclone, Tx and when he moved to Temple became a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and then St. Luke Catholic Church of Temple. He was also a 3rd and 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus and a member of SPJST Lodge 87. He worked for Blackland Research for 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Joseph Zatopek, and 4 brothers William, Ed, Frank, and Henry Zatopek.
Lad is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Zatopek of Temple, Tx, son, David Zatopek and wife Cathy of Dallas, Tx, a brother, Adolph Zatopek of West, Tx, and a granddaughter, Clara Zatopek of Dallas, Tx and a host of dear friends. A visitation will be Friday, September 14, 2012 from 57 with a rosary at 7pm at HarperTalasek Funeral Home Temple.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to St. Luke Catholic Church Development Fund.
