On Sunday, June 10, 2018, Kenneth M. Collier went home to be with the Lord.
Services will be Friday, June 15, 2018, at 10 am in the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Temple with Gene Greer officiating. Burial will follow in Moffat Cemetery in Moffat, Texas.
Mr. Collier was born August 13,1932, in Temple, Texas to James W. Collier and Winnie Baggett Collier. Mr. Collier was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Mary Alice Clark, March 25,1954. They were married 63 years. He attended Temple High School where he was First Chair Trumpet in the band. On January 6, 1951, he entered the United States Air Force and was stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas and served in the training command. He worked many years as a backhoe operator for various construction companies in the Temple, Belton area. He helped build the upper deck of I-35 through Temple, Scott and White Hospital and the present-day Temple High School. In later years he drove an 18-wheeler truck for Texas Rockwool and Downing Trucking. He travelled to all parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. He and his wife Mary went on many trips together.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sibling infant Collier; brothers James Winifred Collier and Otis Ray Collier; sisters, Louise Hacker and Melva Dean Collier. He is survived by two daughters, Terry Burns and husband Joe of Temple, Chris Tolbert and husband Donnie, of Temple; one son, Travis Collier and wife Angela of Waco, Texas. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Trisha Denson and husband Greg of Lebanon, TN, Tonya German and husband James of Wichita, KS, Aaron Burns and wife Elizabeth of Conway, Ark, Leanne Edgar and husband Shawn of Temple, Leslie Sheffield and husband Brad of Oxford, Mississippi, Travis Collier Jr. and wife Virginia of Flower Mound, TX. He has17 great-grandchildren, Robert Denson, Skylar Denson, Adrianna Denson, Gregory Denson, Tommy Denson, Zaniel Denson, Caleb German, Addy German, Kaity German, RJ Ruzika, Lillian Ruzika, Emrie Sheffield, Edie Sheffield, Blakely Sheffield, Lillian Collier, Matthew Collier and Mary Collier.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the funeral home.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
