June 3, 1947 — July 16, 2016

Services for Elaine Kay Kaulfus Gossett, 69, of Belton will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20 at the First Lutheran Church in Temple with Pastor Eric Petty officiating. Burial will follow at Burlington Cemetery in Burlington.

Mrs. Gossett passed away Saturday, July 16, at her home in Belton, surrounded by her loving family.

Elaine Kay Kaulfus (Kay) was born June 3, 1947 in Rosebud, Texas to Oskar J. Kaulfus and Hattie S. Liermann Kaulfus. Her father's work brought her family to Temple in 1952. Kay graduated from Temple High School in 1965, the last graduating class from the old Temple High School. She met Larry Gossett in 1966 at Kim's Drive-In in Temple and they were married the same year. They had a son, Dwayne, in 1968. Kay traveled all over the world with her husband. She lived in Italy for three years and in Germany for three years with Larry on his duty assignments with the Army. Kay was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church of Temple on South 31st Street.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents Oskar and Hattie, and a sister, Karen Meadows.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Gossett; son, Dwayne Gossett; grandsons Kevin Gossett and Carl Gossett; great-granddaughter Joeie Gossett; great-grandsons Carl (Junior) Gossett and Hunter (Shooter) Gossett; two nieces and one nephew.

Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
