Kathryn Swanger

Services for Kathryn Garner Swanger, 92, of Troy will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Troy with Bruce Burleson and the Rev. Harlan Haines officiating. Burial will follow at Moody Cemetery.

Mrs. Swanger died Thursday, March 20, 2014, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Swanger was born June 27, 1921, in Moody. She was the daughter of Freeman Garner and Myrtle Land Garner. She married James Swanger on September 5, 1936, in Eddy, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1972.

Mrs. Swanger earned her accountant degree from Durhams Business College. She worked for Troy ISD for 10 years City Lumber Company for 12 years, and Foxworth Galbreath for 4 years. Following retirement, she worked parttime for doctors.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Troy where she taught Sunday School in the Childrens Department for years, and served on the committee writing the Church history. She was an active member of Troy Senior Trojans. She also served as an adult leader for 4H for a number of years.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Edwin Garner of Eddy, Jack Garner of Belton and Freeman Garner of Palestine, and one sister, Doris Goode of Moody. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Jade Alexander Bowling of Cedar Park. She is survived by her daughter and soninlaw, Kathy and Kenny Bowling of Cedar Park, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
