Juan Bustos, age 86 of Belton, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White hospital in Temple. Juan’s wishes were to be cremated. A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, with a Holy Rosary recited at 6 pm by deacon Margarito Alvarado, Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
Juan was born on September 1, 1935 in Quintanar de la Orden, Toledo, Spain. At the age of 9, he moved to Mallorca, Spain where he lived until the age of 25. After traveling the world, he then moved to the United States in the year 1972. He later married Sylvia Flores of Temple, Texas on February 22, 1974. Juan worked as an engineer for the Santa Fe railroad during this time until he retired on October 1, 2006. Things that brought him joy included reading, cooking, watching soccer, boxing, and spending quality time with his family. Juan never knew a stranger, if you were lucky enough to be in his general vicinity, chances are you ended up in conversation with him. He loved to share his stories and knowledge with anyone willing to take time and listen.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents, Atilano and Piedad Bustos; five brothers, Alfonso Bustos, Atilano Bustos, Francisco Bustos, Angel Bustos, and Vicente Bustos; and sister, Piedad Perea.
Those left to cherish his memories are five sisters, Gloria Perea, Tomasi Castellano, Amparo Bustos, Pilar Garrido, and Mari Carmen Sanchez; wife, Sylvia Bustos; two daughters, Marisol Coker and husband John, and Rocio Bustos McDaniel; two grandchildren, Marcos and Isabella; along with numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
