Joyce Murphy

Joyce Elenor Murphy, 91 of Temple died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at her residence. Rosary will be recited 6:30pm, Wednesday, June 9th at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park.

Ms. Murphy was born August 18, 1918 to Frederic James and Ruby Lenoir Murphy in Kellogg, Idaho. She started her travels early in life with her parents. As an infant, She lived in Canada, but spent her younger adolescent and teenage years living in different areas of Mexico.

Her formal education started in 1939 in San Fransico. ms. Murphy attended several different colleges throughout California. She earned a B.S. in Nursing in 1959 and a B.A. in history in 1962 from the University of California at Berkley. Ms. Murphy Started her nursing career in 1946 at the Temple Veterans Hospital. She worked at various other hospitals throughout the nation, but returned to Temple in 1971 where she worked at Santa Fe Hospital and Scott and white Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1985. Mr. Murphy was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother. she is survived by many friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of the arrangements.
