Jon Philmore Czarowitz

Services for Jon P. Czarowitz, 85 of Temple, will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 25, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will follow in Bartlett City Cemetery in Bartlett, Texas. Mr. Czarowitz passed away Saturday, January 20, at a local hospital.

Jon Philmore Czarowitz was born October 9, 1938, in Bryan, Texas to Philmore Czarowitz and Mary McKinney Czarowitz. The family moved to McKinney, Texas when Jon was 2 and he attended schools there until his graduation from McKinney High School in 1956. He lived in Garland for a time, driving a cab and working in apartment maintenance. He married Ruth Abrams in 1985, and they moved to Temple in 1986, where Jon worked in apartment maintenance. Mr. Czarowitz was a Boy Scout Leader and a member of Temple First Christian Church for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Clan Cunningham Society.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Philmore and Mary Czarowitz; a daughter, Kara Zachary; and two wives, Carlotta Wurst Czarowitz and Deborah Horsley Czarowitz.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Abrams Czarowitz; two sons, Jon A. Czarowitz and Philip Czarowitz; two daughters, Robin Hundley and Dawn Housewright; a brother, Mike Czarowitz; a sister, Tani Hurley; 16 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 pm Thursday, January 25, at the funeral home.
