Johnnie Brannan

Johnnie Andrew Brannan, 89, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was born March 23, 1921 to the late William J. Willie and Agnes Stringer Brannan in Citronelle, Alabama.
Johnnie has lived in the Temple area since 1946. He married Adella Hurta on September 11, 1948. She preceded him in death in January 2005.
Johnnie proudly served his country and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking care of his cows. He was of the Baptist faith.
Johnnie was also preceded in death by his brother, William A. Brannan and 4 sisters: Helen Swann, Dorothy Dickinson, Bertha Mae Lacy and Margaret Breland.
He is survived by his sister Agnes Mildred Thompson of Citronelle and nieces and nephews: Gloria Wilson, Patsy Yargough, Terry Lacy, Bruce Lacy, Fay Fisk and Matthew Odom, Rebecca Dickinson Bradford and Arvin Dickie Dickinson, III. Also friends, Carrol Bangs and Tink Masters of Moody, TX as well as other devoted friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011 with funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at HarperTalasek Chapel . Burial with full military honors will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
