Mr. John Shipley Wolf passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017.

John was born on June 25, 1940 to Jacque Burgoyne Wolf and Helen Wailes Wolf in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from St. Paul's High School and became a proud naval serviceman. After his military service, he graduated from Towson University with a bachelor's degree in history. He worked many years for the State of Maryland in departments of transportation and natural resources. He was one of the first employees of Maryland Environmental Trust and helped launch the original "Keep Maryland Beautiful" campaign. John had a lifelong love of nature and the outdoors. He was so fond of turtles in particular, he was known to many as simply "Turtle Man." John had a servant's heart not only for his community but also first and foremost for The Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two sons, David Wolf and wife Luz, Kevin Wolf and wife Melinda, and three grandchildren, Weston Wolf, Jordan Wolf, and Jack Wolf.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Department of Veterans Affairs, especially all those in Temple and Waco who touched John's life, for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 am before the service at the Killeen Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.

Arrangements are in the care of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.
