John Nesbitt

March 14, 1943 — August 23, 2012

John Preston Nesbitt, Sr., son of Parshal McCord and Charlotte Gelderman Nesbitt was born on March 14, 1943 in Youngstown, Ohio.
He passed away late morning on August 23, with his wife at his bedside, in a local hospital. John knew he was truly blessed by the lord to have lived 69 years after surviving numerous health problems and close calls
On February 4, 1967, John married Carolene Schiller. They were blessed with 45 years together and treasured each moment they had.
He is survived by his wife, son and two daughters: John Nesbitt II and wife, Patricia, Valerie Adams and husband Michael and Veronica Bradshaw and husband Edward Grandchildren: John Preston Nesbitt III, Ryan Adams, Victoria Bradshaw and Edward Bradshaw III, and a sister, Barbara Armstrong of Orlando, Florida. He is also survived by his brothers and sistersinlaw whom he considered as his own family and many nieces and nephews.
John retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years. He was also employed by MHMR and GSA Fleet Management Service at Ft. Hood. He served tours in France, Germany, Vietnam, Ft. Hood, TX, Ft. Riley, KS, Ft. Rucker, Alabama, Panama Canal Zone and Korea.
He loved to fish, hunt and work on vehicles. In his later years he enjoyed the companionship of his little poodle, Chewy. He liked to sit on the porch and bird watch.
John is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Linda Craver.
Funeral Services will be held 2pm, Monday, August 27, 2012 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home Chapel, Temple, TX. Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park under the direction of HarperTalasek Funeral Home, Temple, TX.
The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to everyone who cared for John, in one way or another, during his illness, those who have kept John and his family in their prayers and thoughts and for all of the expressions of sympathy, kindness and offerings of help and food.
